Sunscreen does Prevent Melanoma Skin Cancer!

Recently reported findings from a study done in Queensland, Australia show that daily sun screen use reduces the incidence of melanoma. The study followed participants for 10 years after a 5 year study of sunscreen use. The participants in the daily sunscreen group had half as many melanomas as the control group which used their own discretion regarding sunscreen and used sunscreen much less regularly.

This is reassuring news as previous reports has shown contradictory evidence about sunscreen and melanoma with one study proposing an increased risk of melanoma in sun screen user.

The best way to prevent skin cancer is to protect your skin from sun exposure with a broad spectrum sun block that blocks UVA and UVB rays, avoid sun during peak hours and wear hat and sun protective clothing.

Skin cancer is preventable!!
