As an aesthetician my job comes with multiple perks and being able to try out new products and procedures regularly is obviously a favorite of mine, but I can definitely say not everything I get try is a success or leaves me smiling, but when I find something I love that works, I am so eager to share it with everyone around which is the entire point of this blog of course. Last week my fellow employees and I recently tried the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance and “radiant” is absolutely how it made me feel!
Most skincare gurus out there have heard of Obagi I am sure and all of the miracles his products create, so I didn’t expect anything less from their “little to no down time peel.” This peel is formulated with salicylic, glycolic and lactic acids for quick skin rejuvenation. Salicylic acid exfoliates the outer layer of the skin and is able to penetrate into the pores for a deep clean and known for clearing up acne blemishes (you can count me in for that one!). Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic and lactic are able to improve the appearance of wrinkles, thickened sun-damaged skin, and rough dull skin textures. This ingredient list sounds like a quick “miracle in a bottle” to me, so I was super excited to try it on myself and the girls at the office.
Upon applications of new peels I am always nervous just like I am sure most of my clients are. Chemicals can be tricky and if not used properly they can cause some damage so it is always important to be able to trust your aesthetician. Once the chemical peel was applied to my face I began to feel a slight tingle and a little heat which is normal, but thanks to our trusty blue fan, it was very tolerable. The chemical peel needed to sit on my skin for ten minutes after all the layers were applied which was a breeze since our heated bed is extremely comfortable and the solution began to neutralize on its on to the point that I no longer felt anything on my skin before the ten minutes were up. I wish all chemical peels could be this easy and feel this comfortable! Once the peel was washed off my skin and moisturizer was applied, my skin was positively glowing and who doesn’t want that? This treatment was done in less than 20 minutes which is perfect since the majority of my clients have busy lives and not a lot of time to spend on their skin.
After trying this peel on 3 other girls in the office I received great feedback from them as well…Madeline stated that she “loved” the peel, but she is always looking for a way to get her skin bright and glowing so of course she did! Joan was raving about how even her skin toned looked the next day which was definitely noticeable and Christina also loved this peel and said her skin looked “great!” This is definitely the kind of feedback I love to here after chemical peel treatments. This would be a great peel to do in a series of 4 to 6 spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart or a week before a special event. This treatment can be used on all skin types and tones so I know all of my clients are going to be ringing the office phones off the hook trying to get an appointment in to try this “radiant” peel! I advise calling the office now, you know you want to!
