Don’t love your neck? Find yourself happy that turtleneck season has arrived?? There are many options for improvement…

All the talk about turkeys in November has led us to think about, well – the neck. Cosmetically there are many options for enhancement of this very visible area.  I will try to be delicate here, but reading this may cause you to check your neck in the mirror….

Aging changes and sun damage cause crepey, wrinkly skin in the neck as well red and brown discoloration and loss of elasticity. Muscle sagging causes prominent neck bands that seem to hang downward. Weight gain can accumulate under the chin leading to loss of definition at the jawline. Skin laxity and volume loss in the face also causes increased neck folds. All of these factors can contribute to the dreaded turkey neck!

Cosmetic procedures for the neck have come a long way in recent years. Intense pulsed light or Vbeam  treatments will reduce the red and brown tones common in the neck from sun damage. Wrinkles and texture changes can be improved with Fraxel treatments – most commonly the Fraxel Re:store. A series of 4-6 treatments is needed for best results. These treatments can be done alone or in combination with each other for enhanced results.

Non-surgical skin tightening procedures are an excellent way to tighten the skin of the neck with zero downtime. Radiofrequency treatments – Thermage, Exilis, and Pelleve – apply heat skin to cause collagen contraction and skin tightening. Thermage is used over the entire face as well as the neck and is recommended as an initial treatment for more severe loose skin and sagging or as a more deeply penetrating, one time treatment as part of a preventative plan. Exilis treats more superficially and is a good compliment to further tighten and maintain tightening from a Thermage treatment or to use alone for mild to moderate sagging. We love Exilis also for an instant fix – think holiday parties! Pelleve is used for small areas.

Surgical enhancements include complete face and neck lift (sorry not offered at Charlotte Skin & Laser) and minimally invasive neck and chin liposuction or chin liposuction with neck band lifting. Chin liposuction is a quick, safe, in office procedure that is very popular in our practice. The procedure is done under local anesthesia and you can return to normal activities and work as soon as 3 days after the procedure.

Just want a cream? New Nectifirm cream has been flying off the shelf because men and women alike love how it helps smooth and tighten neck skin. This popular cream uses peptides to plump, firm and tighten neck skin. Rumor is that it also works on the dreaded décolleté wrinkles as well.

You are in luck if you have taken a look at your neck and are thinking gobble, gobble. Scarf season is here and as much as we love to accessorize, wouldn’t it be nice to just wear a scarf to accessorize instead of camouflage?  As you have read, Charlotte Skin & Laser has the solution, just pick your plan of attack and give us a call!
