Do you have spider veins that drive you crazy in the spring and summer time? Do you find yourself wanting to cover up your legs?  Well now is the time to take care of it! Don’t wait until spring or summer is already here.  Dr. Rostan can treat your spider veins, but results aren’t immediate so you want to start NOW!

Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to treat spider veins by injecting a solution into the veins which causes them to gradually disappear.  By injecting a solution, known as a sclerosing solution, the lining of the veins becomes irritated and eventually turns into scar tissue that will then fade away.

Many people think one treatment will fix it all, but that is not the case. Several treatments are typically needed–the number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient and depends on the extent and severity of veins present. Six or more treatments may be needed; the average is 2 to 4 treatment sessions.

The veins will not disappear immediately- this is the most important fact in understanding your treatment.  The healing process begins as soon as the solution is injected.  However, in the beginning the healing process is microscopic and not visible to the naked eye. Some veins may require at least two treatments or possibly more before seeing the desired results.

Many veins, especially the larger ones, will darken after treatment and actually look more prominent before they gradually fade over the next 3 to 12 weeks.  The length of time for fading varies greatly between patients and can also be dependent on the size of veins. This whole process may take 8 to 16 weeks. Start now and you could be ready to show off your legs at the beginning of May!

Thigh-high compression hose will need to be worn 24 hours a day for 7 days after a sclerotherapy session. And what better time to wear them then now when it is getting so cold out!?

Charlotte Skin & Laser sclerotherapy sessions are booked in 15 or 30 minute increments.  The price starts at $350 and goes up per treatment. Call today to make a consultation and see if sclerotherapy is right for you!
